Careers & Pathways Activities
In today's current climate of rising tuition fees and
record youth unemployment it has never been more crucial to instil
in young people the skills and preparation that will help steer
them towards future success.
Every student will have a different idea about what they
want to do. Where one student has a burning ambition, there
will be another who is a little less sure. The EBeBP aims to engage
these differences through various projects, inducting business
volunteers in every single project we offer. According to young
people, gaining knowledge from those within the business world is
the most valuable element to our services.
These are some of the careers activities we offer to our
local schools:
A large variety of companies and organisations who are
regular supporters of our Careers programme come together in a
one-day career convention. Students can approach the volunteers and
explore the extensive range of choices available to them,
discussing options and queries face-to-face. This convention can
really open students' eyes to the number of career choices out
there.
A new workshop where students effectively interview the
employees in a question and answer session. A panel of
business volunteers from a variety of sectors offer explanations of
their career choices and, fundamentally, the pathways they
took in order to get there.
Tailored to the specific career' interests of the
students, Insight Days offer opportunity to visit a company from
their preferred sector of choice.
Business volunteers speak to students about employer'
expectations and offer guidance on students' future decisions
toward their career.
